What is Black Fungus?

The Black Fungus Infection, It is also known as Mucormycosis. It is a virus-like other virus. Actually, this virus is already live with us from starting. This virus is found in our nose, soil, and our other things and body parts. But it is not harming our bodies before. The question is why? Ans- This virus didn’t affect the human body before because our body has enough immunity to fight with them. But now a day peoples are suffering from COVID19 Infection which crushes the immunity of people. Because of that, Black Fungus is successful to attack the human body.

Mucormycosis is caused by a group of molds called mucormycosis. It is naturally found in air, water, and even food. It enters the body through fungal spores from the air or can also occur on the skin after a cut, burn, or skin injury.

How a person Infected with?

One of the rapidly spreading infection post-COVID is a black fungus. Also called Mucormycosis, black fungus is, as the name suggests is a fungal disease that is commonly being observed in patients who were given steroids for a long time, who have been hospitalized for a long time, were on oxygen support or ventilator, poor hospital hygiene or who have been taking medication for other illness such as diabetes. Fungal spore floating in the environment give people this infection. One may also catch it when the fungus “enters the skin through a cut, burn, or other types of skin trauma. If not treated on time and I right way, the black fungus infection can turn fatal.

  • Nasal blockage on one side of the face
  • One-sided headache
  • Swelling or numbness
  • Toothache
  • Loosening of teeth

Who kind of people are more at risk?

According to medical science, diabetes patients are majorly vulnerable to fungal infections such as mucormycosis. So are immuno-suppressed people who have been recently cured of Covid. In Current situation this is known as a post covid fungal infection. This is called a post COVID fungal infection now a days. It happens because of non maintaining of hygiene by the hospital administration during the patient’s hospitalization


Black Fungus Precautions

People with the following medical conditions should be more careful, they should constantly monitor their health and also take the following preventive measures.

  • Diabetic Patient (uncontrolled diabetes)
  • Steroid usage
  • COVID Positive –

All three combined together to place one at high risk of getting this infection. Hence

  • Maintain Proper Hygiene (especially Post COVID)
  • Diabetic patients should always monitor and control their blood sugar level
  • Use Mask Always
  • Nit and Clean Staying
  • Ask Hospital for Maintain hygiene while the use of Oxygen
  • Take Proper Measure if any type of symptoms found
